whiterose At the Jay DeFeo Community Tribute was a screening of this stunning and moving short by Bruce Conner. After working on The Rose in her studio for eight years, it was slowly and painstakingly hauled through the window – all 2,000 pounds of it. The physical and metaphysical size of The Rose is unmistakable, as is DeFeo’s heartbreak at being separated from her work. There was not a sound in the theatre.
